Doyle Drive Tolling Debate

The San Francisco Chronicle reports on the dispute over charging tolls to fund reconstruction of San Francisco's Doyle Drive.  The article reports that federal funds provided for Doyle Drive reconstruction require that the road be tolled to repay construction costs.  The idea of tolling Doyle Drive has stirred up debate in the Bay Area and also requires State legislative approval.

Caltrans Page on NEPA Delegation

The last federal transportation act (SAFETEA-LU) introduced a five-year pilot program which gives five states, including California, the authority to take over certain federal environmental reporting responsibilities from the Federal Highway Administration.  Caltrans has decided to pursue this authority in an effort to streamline project delivery.  To learn more about Caltrans' role in the NEPA delegation pilot, click here.
